Wig Glue & Removers

Most of our units are glueless, so adhesive is a choice rather than a requirement. When you do want a bonded hold — a long event, a windy day, a photo shoot — these are the products to use, and the removers to take them off safely afterwards.

Adhesive types

Lace glue gives the strongest and longest hold, typically several days to two weeks, and is what you want for a sewn or bonded install. Lace tape is cleaner, quicker and comes off more easily, which makes it the better choice for a single day. Holding spray adds grip over glue or tape and helps a lace edge lie flat; it is not a bond on its own.

Match the hold to the occasion

A wedding or a hot day calls for a waterproof glue. An office day calls for tape. A couple of hours calls for nothing at all — the straps and combs on a glueless cap will hold the unit without any product on your skin.

Removal is where units get damaged

Almost all lace tears happen during removal, not during wear. Never pull a bonded lace off dry. Saturate the bond line with a proper solvent or an oil-based remover, wait the full time on the label — usually two to five minutes — and lift from the ear toward the centre as the glue releases. If it resists, apply more remover and wait longer rather than pulling harder.

Looking after your skin

Patch test any new adhesive behind the ear 24 hours before you use it. Clean the bond line completely after removal, because residue left on the hairline is what causes irritation and, over time, thinning edges. If your skin reacts to adhesives at all, stay glueless — see headband wigs or V-part and U-part wigs, neither of which touches the hairline.

Looking after the lace

Wash the glue line out of the lace after every removal with a gentle shampoo. Dried adhesive left in the mesh goes hard, discolours and eventually cracks the lace. This matters most on HD lace, which is the thinnest and least forgiving.
