Texture describes the wave pattern of the hair itself, not the styling. On a 100% human hair unit the pattern is permanent in the sense that it returns after every wash — you can straighten a curly wig for a day, but it will revert to curls once it is washed and air dried.
Two things follow from that:
- Buy the texture you want most of the time, not the one you want occasionally. Occasional changes are easy; permanent ones are not.
- Wave patterns shorten the visible length. A 24 inch curly wig sits several inches higher than a 24 inch straight one. Always check the length chart against the texture.
Body Wave: Soft, Everyday Movement
Body wave is a loose, open S-pattern — the texture you would get from a large barrel curling iron. It is the most popular texture we sell, and for most people it is the right first wig.

Deep Wave: Fuller, More Dramatic

Rich, glossy, high-impact. Deep wave photographs extremely well, which is why it dominates social media. In person it gives the most "salon blowout" effect of the three.
Maintenance
Middle of the road, leaning high. The waves need moisture to stay defined — a leave-in conditioner after every wash, and a light oil through the ends. Never brush it dry; detangle with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb while it is damp and conditioned, or the wave pattern frizzes out.
Who it suits
Anyone who wants volume without full curls, and anyone buying extra-long. At 30 to 40 inches, deep wave hides weight and stops the ends looking thin — which is why it is the most popular texture in our 40 inch wigs.
Curly: Maximum Volume, Maximum Work
Curly covers everything from loose spirals to tight kinky curls. It is the most natural-looking texture for many wearers and the most striking.
What it looks like
Big, full and three-dimensional. A curly unit at 180% density looks fuller than a body wave at 220%, because the curl pattern occupies more space.
Maintenance
The highest of the three, by a clear margin. Curly hair must be detangled in sections, wet, with conditioner in it — never dry, never in one pass. It needs a curl cream or defining gel after every wash, and it takes the longest to air dry.

How Density Changes the Decision
Texture and density work together. The same density reads very differently across the three:
- Body wave needs more density to look full — 180% is the practical minimum, 200–220% past 24 inches.
- Deep wave looks full at 180% and dramatic at 220%.
- Curly looks full at 150–180%; going above 220% can read as a costume wig on a smaller frame.

Yes, if it is 100% human hair. Use a heat protectant and keep the iron on medium. The pattern comes back at the next wash. Repeated high heat will loosen the pattern permanently, so do it occasionally rather than weekly.
Which texture tangles the least?
Body wave, clearly. Curly tangles the most, especially at the nape where it rubs against collars. Any texture tangles less if you condition it, seal the ends and sleep in a satin bonnet.
Which texture lasts longest?

Does curly hair need more density?
