Body Wave / Deep Wave

Body wave and deep wave are the two textures most people end up wearing daily. Both hide the cap well, both grow out of a wash looking intentional, and neither needs a styling routine. The difference is how tight the pattern is and how much work it does for you.

Body wave: the easiest texture to live with

Body wave is a loose, open S-pattern — closer to a blow-dried wave than a curl. It reads as hair that has been styled rather than hair that is textured, which makes it the safest choice for work, and it brushes out smooth if you want it straighter for a day. At 180% density in an 18 to 22 inch length it is the closest thing we sell to a wig you can put on without thinking.

Deep wave: more pattern, more weight carried

Deep wave is a tighter, deeper S that repeats more often down the strand. That extra pattern does two useful things: it holds its shape through humidity far better than body wave, and it disguises weight, which is why nearly every long unit we build above 30 inches is deep wave. The cost is that deep wave sits shorter than its stated length — a 40 inch deep wave falls where a 34 inch straight unit would.

How ours are made

100% Remy human hair with aligned cuticles, so the wave pattern stays defined instead of frizzing at the nape. HD Swiss lace, pre-plucked hairline, bleached knots. Adjustable glueless cap with straps and combs. Densities from 180% to 250%, lengths from 14 to 42 inches.

Keeping the wave defined

Do not brush a wave dry — that is what turns it into frizz. Detangle with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb while it is damp and has conditioner in it, then leave it alone. Wash every seven to ten wears, scrunch a light leave-in through the mid-lengths, and air dry on a stand. If the pattern loosens over time, a wash restores it.

Which one should you buy?

If you want hair that looks styled with no effort and you mostly wear it down, buy body wave. If you live somewhere humid, want length past the shoulder blade, or want the pattern to be obvious, buy deep wave. For tighter definition again, see curly wigs; for no pattern at all, straight wigs.
